imagine that.

Recent Whole Foods experience: While in the check-out of Whole Foods in Brighton, MA, I noticed the bagger was clearly from a different country by his thick accent and broken English. He first asked me, 'You like sac?' and with me having somewhat of a low maturity level, I laughed and asked him to repeat. He tugged on a paper bag and asked again. I couldn't help but laugh while I awkwardly said, sure. As I proceeded to pay, he stated, 'I like your rubbers!' In a state of confusion and laughter, I looked at him and realized he was looking and pointing at my rain boots. Best Whole Foods experience EVER.

:::Admire:::

Admire:
–verb (used with object)
1. to regard with wonder, pleasure, or approval.
2. to regard with wonder or surprise (usually used ironically or sarcastically): I admire your audacity.
–verb (used without object)
3. to feel or express admiration.
4. Dialect. to take pleasure; like or desire: I would admire to go.

Lately, in an effort to understand myself better, I’ve been concentrating on what I admire in other people and more specifically in the opposite sex. I looked up synonyms for the word “admire” and began the process of listing out things that I would like to become more disciplined in.
I would admire someone who is able to go with the flow, jump in the rising tide, and trek the unpaved path all because it’s something different from the day before.
I would commend a person who refuses to just see me off while I venture into the unknown, but rather grab my hand tight and lead me into an intoxicating and stirring uncertainty.
I would revere someone who understood the difference of flawed humanistic emotion of jealousy and protect the innocence and frailty of a relationship.
I would treasure someone who understood that life is too short to worry about tomorrow and all that matters is what we do with today.
I would venerate someone who laughs often, loves fiercely, and forgives without hesitation.

Win.

Weird how many coincidences occur when you least expect. Fate? Probably. The right people and/or opportunities tend to appear just when you need them. I roll the dice on an almost daily basis and I can honestly say, usually, in an unusual way, things work out in such a synch way. Forgive me if this reads extremely vague, but I'll get into details some other time.

.When you live your life with an
appreciation of coincidences
and their meanings, you connect
with the underlying field of
infinite possibilities.

where i am

Ani says it best...

I got friends all over this country
I got friends in other countries too
I got friends I haven't met yet
I got friends I never knew
I got lovers whose eyes
I've only seen at a glance
I got strangers for great grandchildren
I got strangers for ancestors

I was a long time coming
I'll be a long time gone
You've got your whole life to do something
And that's not very long

"I am not an adventurer by choice but by fate." -Vincent van Gogh

I’m not the same. I didn’t expect to be I guess. Even when I look at the stars, I feel different.
Working in corporate America taught me working a nine to five that you hate in return for a nice paycheck that can buy you most of Ikea’s latest trendy furniture or that blackberry that most can’t part with even five minutes or upgrading your ipod shuffle to a 30 gig itouch, simply, in the grand scheme of things, is not worth it. Many of us have become hungry consumers that look to material objects for comfort instead of our roots. Much of my time spent working in corporate opened my eyes to the melancholy dun drum life that in some cases, makes ‘ends meet.’ I’m not embellishing when I say I don’t think I met one person that loved their job while working there. Not one. Some settle for less, some feel helpless, some are lazy, some just show up and do the job while daydreaming about what was happening later that day…everyone has their reasons of why they stay in certain jobs, relationships, etc. Well I’ll tell you something; I refuse to settle for less. It’s just not in my blood. From a young age I knew my life wouldn’t be ‘normal.’ Living in Prague and becoming an international teacher has made me realize to forget what I think I know. Life is so much more worthwhile when you use spontaneity as your only convention; or at least it works just fine for me. I realized how I really didn’t miss having a car, cell phone, same foods, and all the conveniences I used to know. They didn’t matter anymore because I was somewhere else in a totally new chapter that made all those things seem irrelevant. With taking risks, sure there’s set-backs, they’re all over, but that kinda makes it worth while…it’s challenging.. not sure where I’m going exactly, but I can guarantee you one thing definitely, I’ll never be the same …

“Our battered suitcases were piled on the sidewalk again; we had longer ways to go. But no matter, the road is life.” -Jack Kerouac

As I live up my last days in Praha, Czech Republic, I can’t help but to feel so blessed for this experience. It has been nothing less than amazing, offering friendships that will last a lifetime, an unforgettable atmosphere full of wonder, unique culture and endless cobblestones that sometimes trip me and make me realize I’m not dreaming…this is my life..no complaints..at. all..

I may be leaving sooner than I’d like, but to be honest, I do believe things happen for a reason. I’ll look back on this experience and smile. Every time. You won’t see me with a bitter attitude or a failed disposition because I don’t regret a thing. The TEFL course was immeasurably valuable with the most remarkable people.

Next stop, Japan. As an aspiring nomad, the choices seem endless and contagiously exciting. Stay tuned…
